The Norwegian quartet Slomosa have made waves well beyond their country’s borders. Based out of Bergen, they’ve come up with a name for their particular brand of music – tundra rock. The genre draws generous influences from 90s heavy rock and stoner, with a seasoning of grunge and a pinch of punk rock. Their heavy and groovy style is indebted to the likes of Kyuss, Sleep, Queens of the Stone Age and Dozer. They have a knack for writing hypnotising hooks that are reminiscent of Josh Homme’s glory days as a member of Kyuss. A Slomosa show feels like Palm Desert at the height of summer and groove is the operative word.
